Enviro News Asia, Dubai — Indonesian furniture products successfully recorded potential transactions worth USD 225,000 (equivalent to IDR 3.7 billion) at the Interior Design and Furniture Exhibition (INDEX) Dubai 2025. The exhibition was held from May 27–29, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Center, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Indonesian products made from natural wood and rattan stood out amid intense competition from synthetic-based products of competing countries, drawing significant interest from visitors.
Fajarini Puntodewi, Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, expressed appreciation for the presence of Indonesian furniture products at INDEX Dubai 2025.
According to her, Indonesian businesses successfully took advantage of the largest annual furniture and interior design exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa region.
This comes as the interior design industry in those regions is experiencing rapid growth, with a market value reaching USD 80 billion.
“The Middle East and North Africa offer dynamic opportunities for interior design and furniture products. We encourage Indonesian furniture businesses to actively promote exports, either with government support or independently,” Puntodewi stated in her official release.
Puntodewi also encouraged furniture businesses, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to actively seek promotional opportunities through various international furniture exhibitions.
This way, Indonesian furniture products can consistently target buyers from around the world.
Meanwhile, Widy Haryono, Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Dubai, hopes that Indonesian furniture products will become increasingly competitive in the UAE market with high-quality products and designs that cater to market preferences.
He also hopes that Indonesian furniture products will continue to promote themselves and win the fierce competition against suppliers from other countries.
“Indonesia’s participation in INDEX Dubai 2025 is one of the efforts to open up alternative market opportunities amid global trade uncertainties. Indonesia can build partnerships with businesses in the UAE to gain more favorable market access,” said Widy.
The UAE holds a strategic advantage in global trade.
The city of Dubai has become a global trading hub due to its strategic geographic location.
Global businesses have been utilizing the UAE as a trade hub to source competitively priced goods.
Moreover, the UAE also serves as a production base and marketing office thanks to the benefits offered by its trade agreements with partner countries, including market access to the United States.
The UAE also provides open trade access, business-friendly regulations, and highly developed service infrastructure.
The UAE government even offers various business incentives. As a result, the country has become a prime destination for foreign companies to establish business entities.
At INDEX Dubai 2025, the Indonesian Pavilion showcased the theme “Tropical Vibes.” The pavilion was facilitated by the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Dubai and supported by the Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade.
The products on display at the Indonesian Pavilion this year were a collaboration between PT Art Classic Indonesia and an Indonesian furniture and home décor importer based in Dubai.
The importer regularly brings in goods from Indonesia to meet the demands of hotel and resort projects in the Middle East.
“Through our participation in INDEX Dubai 2025, we have gained valuable insights into the Middle Eastern market and the types of furniture products in demand,” said Sutrisno from PT Art Classic International. (*)
