Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The 2025 Sarinah Jakarta E-Prix Formula E event, held at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) in Ancol, Jakarta, served as a key moment to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
It also presented the perfect opportunity for Indonesia’s state electricity company, PLN, to showcase the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure to the global audience.
“The presence of PLN at this event affirms Indonesia’s commitment to clean energy, sustainable mobility, and the growth of a green industry. PLN is not just a power provider, but also a symbol of the transformation toward a low-emission ecosystem and green economy,” said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in an official statement on June 22, 2025.
He emphasized that with a robust and layered full-grid electricity system, PLN fully supports the operation of this world-class circuit.
As part of that commitment, PLN installed six electric vehicle charging stations within the circuit area. This facility is a concrete step toward accelerating the widespread adoption of electric vehicles across the country.
On the same occasion, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin, General Manager of PLN’s Greater Jakarta Distribution Unit, added that PLN had comprehensively prepared the electrical infrastructure to ensure the smooth running of this international event.
“We’re not only supplying electricity but also ensuring a sense of security and comfort for everyone involved in the 2025 Formula E. PLN successfully maintained a steady power supply to support the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit 2025,” Andy concluded.
PLN deployed infrastructure at all critical points — including the paddock, charging stations, race control, media center, and fan village.
This support included 13 mobile substations (UGB), 5 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, 1 Mobile Distribution Control Center (DCC), and 100 personnel stationed at key strategic locations to maintain power system stability throughout the event.
Indonesia’s Presidential Special Envoy for Climate and Energy, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, expressed special appreciation to PLN for its central role in ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply during the 2025 Sarinah Jakarta E-Prix Formula E.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to PLN and its teams, especially PLN Jakarta, for the success of this Formula E event. The electricity supply was excellent—no interruptions, no outages. I sincerely thank PLN for their support,” Hashim stated.
The racers concluded their battle at the 2025 Sarinah Jakarta E-Prix, with Dan Ticktum from the Cupra Kiro team emerging victorious after clocking the fastest time. He was followed by Edoardo Mortara from Mahindra Racing in second place, and Nico Mueller from Andretti in third. (*)
