Marcos Pledges Expanded Support for Innovative Renewable Energy Projects During Cavite Solar Rooftop Visit

Enviro News Asia, Pasinaya Homes — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday affirmed stronger government backing for renewable energy initiatives as he inspected the NING*NING 6.55-megawatt peak solar rooftop power facility at Pasinaya Homes in Naic, Cavite. The project is recognized as the world’s first grid-connected, utility-scale solar rooftop installation located within a socialized housing community.

During the visit, the President underscored that the project equips 1,986 households with rooftop solar panels, enabling collective clean-energy generation for the community. He emphasized that the initiative not only provides electricity but also creates revenue streams that will support local services, including roof maintenance, street lighting, waste management, shared solar facilities, and resident training programs.

Marcos highlighted the project’s efficient use of space by building on existing rooftops, noting that no agricultural land is displaced and no livelihoods are disrupted. He said the facility is projected to reduce more than 6,233 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually—equivalent to removing nearly 1,000 vehicles from the road.

The President commended the project’s global recognition, citing its Gold Award for ESG Integration Excellence and Silver Award for Sustainable Renewable Energy Initiative of the Year at the 2025 Asian Power Awards. He congratulated Solaris Inc., the solar energy arm of Joy-Nostalg Group, along with Raemulan Lands Inc. and other partners for advancing Filipino innovation.

Marcos expressed confidence that the project can serve as a model for neighboring communities and eventually for wider national replication. He stressed that expanding renewable energy initiatives will require close collaboration among government, private sector partners, and local communities, especially as the country confronts climate-related challenges.

He added that the government will continue streamlining processes to promote, accelerate, and scale up innovative clean-energy initiatives. Marcos said the Cavite project demonstrates the progress achievable when multiple sectors work together to deliver sustainable solutions. (*)
