MedcoEnergi Begins Operations of Solar Power Plant in East Bali

Enviro News Asia, Bali — PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi), through its subsidiary Medco Power Indonesia (Medco Power), has commenced commercial operations of a 25MWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) managed by PT Medcosolar Bali Timur, located in Karangasem, East Bali.

The East Bali Solar Power Plant project was developed in collaboration between Medco Power and Solar Philippines and is operated under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT PLN (Persero).

Over the next two decades, the facility will supply renewable energy to the local power grid, replacing conventional energy sources and supporting national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The plant is expected to produce approximately 50 GWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the energy needs of around 42,000 households. Throughout its operational lifetime, the power plant is projected to avoid more than 800,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.

Eka Satria, CEO & President Director of Medco Power, stated, “The integration of the East Bali Solar Power Plant into the local electricity grid will enhance the reliability of energy supply while supporting the sustainability of local communities and economic activities in the region,” Satria said in an official statement on Tuesday (June 17, 2025).

PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (“MedcoEnergi”) is a leading Southeast Asian energy and natural resources company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (MEDC-IDX).

MedcoEnergi operates three main business segments: Oil & Gas, Power, and Copper & Gold Mining. The company explores and produces oil and gas primarily in Indonesia.

Through MedcoEnergi Power, the group operates gas-fired, solar, geothermal, and mini-hydro power plants in Indonesia and holds a non-consolidated ownership stake in PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk, which operates a major copper and gold mine in Indonesia.

Roberto Lorato, Director & CEO of MedcoEnergi, added, “The East Bali Solar Power Project is part of MedcoEnergi’s long-term strategy to diversify its energy portfolio and invest in low-carbon solutions.

As our renewable energy portfolio grows, MedcoEnergi remains committed to driving progress that delivers environmental, social, and economic value to Indonesia,” he said. (*)
