Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, received an official visit from the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Anwar Hafid, at the Manggala Wanabakti Building in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon (July 16, 2025).
During the meeting, the Governor raised two key issues. First, concerns from transmigrant communities whose areas were previously classified as APL (Other Use Areas) but have now been designated as forest areas. Second, forest governance in relation to ongoing mining activities.
The Minister of Forestry, along with his team, addressed these concerns and stated that they would be discussed further in the ministry’s weekly leadership meeting.
The Minister emphasized his commitment to maintaining coordination and ensuring these issues are resolved appropriately.
“God willing, through collaboration and coordination, we can stay focused. We will work out the details and follow up on a weekly basis, so that I can maintain communication with the governor,” said the Minister.
The Governor of Central Sulawesi expressed appreciation for the Minister’s response to both issues.
He noted that the people of Central Sulawesi could now feel some relief, investment activities could continue, and forest areas could remain protected.
“Alhamdulillah, the Minister’s response was outstanding. First, he agreed to restore the status of these areas so our communities can feel at ease. Second, the Minister is truly committed to giving special attention to forest area management, ensuring that investment continues while also preserving the forest,” concluded Anwar Hafid.
