Enviro News Asia, Banyuwangi – The Kick-Off of Mangrofest 2025 was officially held at Alas Purwo National Park, Banyuwangi, on Wednesday (30/7/2025), as part of the World Mangrove Day commemoration.
This event marked the opening of a series of national festivals initiated by the Ministry of Forestry through the Mangrove for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) project, with support from the World Bank and several development partners.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Forestry Sulaiman Umar, accompanied by ministry officials, representatives from local governments, electric motorcycle communities, mangrove working groups, and coastal communities from various regions.
Mangrofest 2025 is designed as a cross-sectoral collaborative platform to galvanize shared commitment towards mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation and restoration efforts.
Various activities such as collaborative planting, an exhibition of rehabilitation outcomes, discussions with mangrove champions, and a nature music concert are integral parts of the festival.
One of the key agendas is the Mangrove Harmony Ride, a collective journey utilizing electric motorcycles as a symbol of transformation towards clean and sustainable energy. (*)
