Enviro News Asia, Washington, D.C. — The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed his admiration for Indonesia as a great nation with a population of more than 285 million people. He also stated that he maintains a very good and friendly relationship with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. President Trump conveyed his hope that Indonesia–United States cooperation will continue to be strengthened and enhanced in the future, particularly as Indonesia and the United States already share a comprehensive strategic partnership.
These remarks were delivered by President Trump during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States, Indroyono Soesilo, at the Oval Office, The White House, Washington, D.C., on December 16, 2025. On this occasion, Ambassador Indroyono conveyed warm greetings from President Prabowo, along with hopes for further strengthening cooperation between the two countries and their respective governments. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the United States have now reached their 76th year, marked by close cooperation across a wide range of fields, including politics, economics, defense, and people-to-people relations.
In 2026, the United States will host the G-20 Leaders’ Summit, in which Indonesia participates as one of the twenty countries with the world’s largest economies. On July 4, 2026, the United States will also commemorate the 250th anniversary of its independence. The celebration of this milestone anniversary will be enlivened by the presence of 31 tall ships from around the world at the Port of New York, including Indonesia’s tall ship, KRI Bima Suci.
