State Must Be Strong, Prabowo Oversees Return of Forest Land and Trillions to Treasury

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed the importance of safeguarding national assets while witnessing the handover of 688,427 hectares of conservation forest land and IDR 6.62 trillion in recovered state funds at the headquarters of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The handover marked a major outcome of the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) in reclaiming state assets from illegal land use and corruption-related activities. The recovered funds consist of approximately IDR 4.28 trillion from corruption case seizures and IDR 2.34 trillion from administrative fines related to forest area violations.

In his remarks, President Prabowo stressed that national wealth is vital to the survival of the country. He likened state assets to blood in the human body, warning that continuous leakage would weaken the nation and threaten its future.

“I was elected and sworn in by the Indonesian people. I am ready to give my life for the people of Indonesia,” the President said, emphasizing his firm stance on defending national sovereignty and resources.

During the same event, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin formally handed over control of the recovered forest areas to Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni for ecological restoration and reorganization in line with conservation functions. The reclaimed land forms part of Phase V of the Forest Area Repossession Program, bringing the total recovered area to 896,969 hectares.

President Prabowo expressed his appreciation to law enforcement agencies and task force members for their commitment to protecting state assets, noting that forest governance reform is integral to strengthening Indonesia’s sovereignty and long-term resilience.

The Ministry of Forestry stated that it will immediately follow up with restoration measures and sustainable management to ensure ecological balance and social-economic benefits for surrounding communities. (*)
