Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability (Environmental, Social, and Governance/ESG) through the hosting of Digiland 2025, TelkomGroup’s largest annual event.
The event, which features Digiland Run, Digiland Music, as well as Nusantara Culinary and MSME Market, not only offers a memorable experience for visitors but also serves as a concrete expression of environmental awareness.
In an official statement, PT Telkom announced that as part of its sustainability commitment, the company has partnered with Jejakin to conduct a comprehensive carbon footprint calculation throughout the event.
The results show a total carbon emission of 144,043.62 kgCO2e, originating from four main sources: venue and accommodation usage, food and beverage consumption, transportation, and waste management.
This data provides a crucial foundation for the company in designing a concrete, measurable, and impactful emission offset strategy.
Ahmad Reza, Telkom’s SVP of Group Sustainability and Corporate Communication, stated, “Through Digiland 2025, TelkomGroup aims to demonstrate that sustainability is not just a commitment but an integral part of every company initiative and activity, including large-scale events.”
By combining digital innovation with social and environmental responsibility, Telkom hopes that Digiland can inspire various parties to work together in protecting the Earth, empowering communities, and creating a sustainable future.
To balance the carbon emissions impact, it is estimated that approximately 15,969 mangrove trees with a lifespan of three years are needed. Throughout 2025, TelkomGroup is taking concrete actions toward sustainability through various environmental initiatives.
These include planting 56,800 mangrove trees as part of coastal conservation efforts, planting 47,900 MTPS (Multipurpose Tree Species) trees to support reforestation and ecosystem restoration programs, and deploying 170 coral reef substrates across various Indonesian coastal areas to support marine ecosystem preservation.
“This number far exceeds the carbon offset requirement from Digiland 2025, proving that Telkom is not only avoiding environmental damage but also actively contributing to ecosystem restoration,” said Ahmad Reza.
He also noted that Digiland 2025 highlights sustainability from a social perspective. Last year, Digiland Run encouraged tree planting through participant involvement, where every 5 kilometers run equaled one tree planted.
This year, TelkomGroup presents a new initiative with the same spirit. “This time, every 1 kilometer run by participants will be converted into 1 GB of internet data to support educational access in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions,” explained Telkom VP of Sustainability, Gunawan Wasisto Ciptaning Andri.
Arfan Arlanda, Founder & CEO of Jejakin, stated, “At Jejakin, we support TelkomGroup in calculating the carbon footprint of the Digiland 2025 event, in alignment with Green Meeting principles. With the data we provide, TelkomGroup can design more precise and measurable offset actions, further strengthening their commitment to sustainability.”
Through the support of technology, education, and real actions for the planet, TelkomGroup proves that digital transformation can go hand-in-hand with sustainability efforts. Digiland 2025 is not only about technological innovation, but also about how we care for the Earth and build a better future. *
