UPN Veteran Jakarta Achieves 147 National and 9 International Awards in 2025

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) achieved 147 national and 9 international awards between February and July 2025. These accomplishments demonstrate the quality of education and the competence of UPNVJ graduates.

“Several study programs have also received international accreditation. In addition, UPNVJ has opened international classes that attract students from Mozambique, Tanzania, Pakistan, Yemen, India, Timor-Leste, and Sudan,” said UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, during the university’s 75th Commencement Ceremony held in Jakarta on Saturday (September 13, 2025). According to a press release from UPNVJ’s Public Relations Office, the graduation ceremony conferred degrees on 1,906 graduates from various fields of study.

On this occasion, Rector Anter Venus emphasized the importance of producing competent and strong-character graduates to support the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Venus stressed that future global challenges can only be met through mastery of competencies, 21st-century skills, and patriotic character. He noted that the 2030–2040 period marks the demographic bonus, during which 68 percent of Indonesia’s population will be of productive age. “The demographic bonus will only truly become an opportunity if we can produce a generation that is competent, technologically adaptive, productive, growth-minded, and patriotic,” said Venus.

According to Venus, the job market requires individuals to possess competencies in knowledge, skills, value standards, and work attitudes. Future education, he said, will focus on three types of skills: Cognitive and Metacognitive Skills such as critical and creative thinking; Social and Emotional Skills such as collaboration and communication; and Practical and Physical Skills such as digital and technological literacy.

He also highlighted the importance of critical thinking amid widespread disinformation, hoaxes, and deep fakes. “Graduates must be able to analyze information rationally, systematically, and objectively, rather than accepting it at face value,” he said.

Venus encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset. Quoting Alvin Toffler, he remarked, “The responsibility of intelligent people is to become more diligent.”

During the event, Venus outlined several of UPNVJ’s achievements. In 2025, the university received 94,427 new student applications, but only 5,698—or 6 percent—were accepted. Several study programs achieved international accreditation, and UPNVJ opened international classes that have attracted students from Mozambique, Tanzania, Pakistan, Yemen, India, Timor-Leste, and Sudan.

Venus underscored that good university governance and tracer studies are key to monitoring graduates’ performance in the workforce. He expressed confidence that UPNVJ’s competent and strong-character graduates will make meaningful contributions to Golden Indonesia 2045. “With this foundation, our graduates are ready to face global challenges and bring about positive change,” he concluded.
