Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The commitment of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) as a Kampus Bela Negara (State Defense University) was reaffirmed during its 48th Anniversary celebration through the organization of a Studium Generale themed “Realizing the President’s Asta Cita Toward a Drug-Free Golden Indonesia.” The event, held at the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, featured the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Commissioner General of Police Suyudi Ario Seto, as the keynote speaker.
As part of a series of activities under the overarching theme “UPNVJ Continues to Transform and Make an Impact,” the collaboration with BNN underscores the university’s efforts to strengthen students’ character, integrity, and resilience against the threat of narcotics abuse. Through the “BNN Goes to Campus” program, UPNVJ aims to enhance students’ literacy on the dangers of drugs while reinforcing the university’s role in shaping a healthy and responsible young generation.
The event also featured a panel discussion with three expert speakers: Dean of the UPNVJ Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak; Lecturer at the UPNVJ Faculty of Law, Dr. Kaharuddin, M.H.; and Coordinator of Indonesia Bersinar as well as Chairman of PP KAMMI, Ahmad Jundi K., M.K.M. The speakers discussed various aspects of narcotics abuse, including its types and impacts on mental health, legal perspectives, and the strategic role of youth in realizing a drug-free Golden Generation 2045.
The discussion reinforced the importance of early detection on campus, strengthening regulations, and creative-educational approaches to engage students. As part of this commitment, UPNVJ appointed two students as Anti-Drug Ambassadors: Emir Abdur Rasyid (Bachelor of Law) and Adlina Putri Martiza (Bachelor of Medicine).
UPNVJ Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Netti Herawati, M.Si., emphasized that the collaboration with BNN represents a form of campus transformation that touches upon fundamental aspects of character-building. “The transformation of UPNVJ is not only about governance, academic quality, and service excellence. More importantly, we aim to ensure that the younger generation possesses integrity, resilience, and strong awareness of the dangers of drugs. Educational programs in collaboration with BNN are highly strategic in achieving this goal,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Commissioner General of Police Suyudi Ario Seto underlined that eradicating drug abuse is an essential part of the 7th pillar of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, which focuses on strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as combating narcotics. This aligns with BNN’s Five Key Policy Priorities for 2025–2029: prevention, law enforcement, rehabilitation, national synergy, and international cooperation.
“Universities play a pivotal role in reinforcing national resilience against narcotics. Students are agents of change and must be at the forefront of breaking the chain of drug abuse through education and creative campaigns,” the BNN Chief asserted. He encouraged UPNVJ students to become role models in promoting an anti-drug culture within society.
The collaboration between UPNVJ and BNN solidifies their shared commitment to developing a young generation that is healthy, intelligent, and of strong integrity. This activity marks a significant highlight of UPNVJ’s 48th Anniversary celebration, reaffirming the university’s identity as a pioneer of state defense through education, advocacy, and student empowerment.
