Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community resilience through the 2025 International Seminar on Community Service (Senabdimas), held online on Tuesday (October 4, 2025). The event brought together academics from various universities at home and abroad to discuss innovations, challenges, and best practices in community engagement.
The event, initiated by UPNVJ’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), also involved the University of Lampung, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Siliwangi University, and the University of Dili. This inter-campus collaboration enriched discussions with multinational perspectives while strengthening broader academic networks.
UPNVJ Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Henry Binsar, stated that the International Senabdimas creates tangible impact, particularly in expanding universities’ contributions to society. Meanwhile, Dr. Sri Lestari, Head of LPPM UPNVJ, noted that more than 40 participants from various countries took part in this annual scientific forum.
With the theme “Strengthening Society’s Resilience Through the Roles of Impactful University,” the conference emphasized the importance of higher education institutions in leveraging science, technology, and the arts to build social resilience for sustainable development.
As the keynote speaker, Prof. Aini Aman from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia discussed MSME empowerment strategies during a 45-minute session. The discussion continued with Lia Toriana from the Tanoto Foundation, who shared insights on implementing community engagement programs in Indonesia. Prof. Dr. dr. Basuki Supartono from UPNVJ also offered perspectives on disaster management and the university’s role in emergency response.
Senabdimas 2025 aims to facilitate the publication of community service activities by lecturers and students, open global collaboration opportunities, and strengthen academic networks for future research and service initiatives. The event continues the success of previous conferences, which have consistently drawn broad national participation.
Through the International Senabdimas, UPNVJ once again affirmed its role as an agent of social change—delivering sustainable solutions and enhancing community resilience amid evolving global challenges. (www.upnvj.ac.id)
