2026 Macao Environmental Forum Opens, Gathering Global Leaders to Advance Green Cooperation

Enviro News Asia, Macao — The Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition 2026 officially opened on 26 March in Macao, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and environmental experts from more than 30 countries and regions to promote international collaboration on sustainable development.

Hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the three-day event is being held at The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo under the theme “Low-carbon, Zero Waste Cities: Embarking on a Global Collaboration.”

In his opening remarks, Tai Kin Ip emphasized that green and low-carbon development has become a shared global priority amid increasing environmental and climate challenges. He reaffirmed Macao’s commitment to advancing its long-term decarbonisation strategy and aligning regional development with national sustainability goals.

The forum serves as a major platform for environmental exchange within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, featuring nearly 30 thematic activities, including high-level forums, project presentations, and business matching sessions aimed at fostering green partnerships and innovation.

Keynote speeches were delivered by prominent figures including Zhao Yingmin and He Kebin, who addressed topics such as carbon neutrality and zero-waste city development.

The exhibition spans approximately 12,000 square metres and is divided into thematic zones focusing on circular economy solutions, green mobility, and low-carbon technologies. The event also features business networking sessions designed to support international expansion of green enterprises and enhance regional cooperation.

In addition to policy discussions and industry engagement, the forum promotes public awareness of sustainable lifestyles through interactive exhibits showcasing innovative green technologies, including eco-friendly materials, recycling systems, and low-carbon infrastructure solutions.

The final day of the event will be open to the public as “Green Public Day,” offering free access to exhibitions and technical visits to local environmental facilities, encouraging broader community participation in environmental protection efforts.

The event underscores Macao’s ambition to strengthen its role as a regional hub for green development and international environmental cooperation while contributing to global sustainability goals. (*)
