Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The government, through the Ministry of Forestry, officially launched the Fifth Phase of the Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink 2030 Community Fund Service in Jakarta on Tuesday (06/10/2026). This grant program allocates a budget of IDR 20 billion designed to reach 300 community groups across Indonesia.
Deputy Minister of Forestry Rahmat Marzuki emphasized the importance of this grant allocation for environmental conservation at the site level. “The Fifth Phase of the FOLU Net Sink 2030 Community Fund Service is allocated with a budget of IDR 20 billion. The funding is targeted to reach as many as 300 community groups,” said Rahmat Marzuki while reading his welcome address in Jakarta.
The FOLU Net Sink 2030 funding scheme represents a collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Norway through the Result-Based Contribution (RBC) mechanism. Management and disbursement of these contribution funds are channeled through the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH) to support climate change mitigation actions, biodiversity conservation, and economic empowerment for communities living around forest areas.
President Director of BPDLH Joko Tri Haryanto explained that the total disbursement of community funds from the first to the fourth phases reached IDR 29.08 billion. This financial assistance has delivered tangible benefits to 49,653 recipients spread across 863 community groups in 36 provinces.
Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia Kaja Glomm expressed appreciation for the long-standing partnership between the two nations in curbing deforestation emissions. Norway recorded a result-based contribution commitment reaching USD 216 million to strengthen the role of indigenous peoples, youth groups, and local communities in safeguarding forest sustainability.
In addition to grant funding, the government is bolstering the community business ecosystem through the Revolving Fund Facility (FDB) alongside market access provisions. This measure is realized through a partnership between BPDLH, PT Jebe Trading Indonesia, and the Rainforest Alliance to absorb sustainable agricultural produce from social forestry groups.
