Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are being leveraged by many digital information technology companies as providers of more comprehensive data and information, essentially replicating human thought processes.
One such company is Google, widely known as a search engine provider, which is now developing Google Gemini.
A discussion hosted by the Center for Technology & Innovation Studies (CTIS) on Wednesday (May 14) focused on the theme “AI Applications for the Empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia.”
The event featured Sugianto Yoannatan W., Education Lead at Google Cloud Indonesia, as the main speaker, with Dr. Ir. Jarot S. Suroso, M.Eng., IPU, a CTIS board member and Secretary General of IATI, acting as moderator.
Sugianto Yoannatan explained that Google introduced Gemini for Google Workspace, an AI-powered assistant engine designed to revolutionize how users work on a daily basis.
Integrated with familiar Google Workspace applications such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Meet, Gemini functions as a smart partner that helps improve efficiency and productivity.
Sugianto outlined several specific benefits of Gemini for MSMEs, including enhanced productivity and operational efficiency.
When MSMEs promote products through their websites, Gemini can assist in a variety of tasks—from composing promotional emails, responding to customer inquiries, and creating professional announcements to generating easier marketing content.
“Gemini helps generate content ideas, draft social media posts, product descriptions, and compelling sales presentations,” said Sugianto.
Gemini also supports simple data analysis for sales and customers using Google Sheets, making it easier for MSME entrepreneurs to identify market trends.
This AI tool from Google quickly summarizes key information, allowing MSME owners to grasp the main points of emails, documents, and meeting transcripts without wasting time.
By automating administrative and managerial tasks, Gemini indirectly frees up MSME owners’ time, enabling them to focus on strategic business development.
Equally interesting is how Gemini facilitates communication between MSME entrepreneurs and customers. “This artificial intelligence assists in responding to customer inquiries and requests more quickly, personally, and professionally,” Sugianto added.
As an assistant, Gemini can even create more engaging promotional materials by offering creative ideas for brochures, social media posts, and presentations.
Amid the surge of promotional content, Gemini contributes fresh marketing ideas that resonate with the market. It also helps generate more informative product descriptions for online stores or catalogs.
“And we use Google’s data to support all Gemini users,” he noted. In other words, the presence of AI-powered Gemini can make MSME operations more efficient.
Sugianto emphasized that Gemini is a tool, and the output it generates still requires review and adjustment to align with each business’s specific needs.
“Overall, Gemini for Google Workspace has great potential to become a valuable asset for MSMEs,” said Sugi.
With its ability to empower users through AI across various aspects of work, Gemini is expected to help MSMEs work smarter, increase efficiency, and pave the way for significant growth without requiring large investments. *
