President Prabowo Reaffirms Indonesia’s Commitment to Address Climate Change and Global Health Crisis

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — On the second day of the 2025 BRICS Summit, President Prabowo Subianto participated in a meeting session with leaders and delegates of participating countries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The session, held on Monday, July 7, 2025, carried the theme “Environment, COP 30, and Global Health,” highlighting global environmental challenges and health issues.

In a statement following the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir emphasized the real and urgent challenges of climate change the world is facing.

He stated that Indonesia is committed to being part of the global efforts to combat climate change.

“President Prabowo stated that the impacts of climate change are strongly felt in Indonesia. He reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to fighting climate change, particularly through our efforts to transition to clean energy,” said Deputy Minister Arrmanatha Nasir, as conveyed in the official release from the Cabinet Secretariat.

During the session, several countries also expressed their commitment to addressing climate change, including strengthening collaboration and climate agendas in the lead-up to the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP30), which will be held in Brazil.

“Several countries voiced their commitments to tackling climate change and preparing for COP30, which will be held in Belém, Brazil,” he added.

In addition to climate and environmental issues, President Prabowo also addressed global health concerns. He emphasized Indonesia’s support for the World Health Organization (WHO) in addressing global health challenges. (*)
