Enviro News Asia, Depok – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) reaffirmed its commitment as a “Bela Negara” (State Defense) Campus by organizing a tree planting event involving 1,000 trees at its Limo Campus in Depok, West Java, on Friday, July 18, 2025.
This initiative represents UPNVJ’s concrete contribution to creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
It is also part of the nationwide implementation of the Diktisaintek BERDAMPAK program, launched by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, which aims to position universities as centers of solutions and drivers of change.
The event was attended by UPNVJ Rector, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA. Comm, who personally participated in the tree planting alongside members of the academic community, including lecturers, students, and administrative staff.
“This is not just a symbolic act—it is a tangible commitment to environmental stewardship as part of our State Defense spirit and full support for the Diktisaintek BERDAMPAK program,” said Prof. Venus during his remarks.
“When we plant a tree, we are not only planting hope but nurturing life—one tree at a time—for a better planet.”
“We want to position UPNVJ as a university that excels not only in education but also in its care for sustainability and the environment surrounding our campus,” the Rector added.
The planting of 1,000 trees is expected to inspire students and the entire UPNVJ academic community to continue initiating activities that generate positive impacts on the environment and society at large.
With the spirit of Bela Negara, UPNVJ continues to innovate and contribute to building a greener and more sustainable future. (*)
