Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting emission reduction and strengthening national energy security, not only through the development of new and renewable energy (NRE), but also through efficient energy management. This approach is considered key to accelerating the energy transition while ensuring industrial sustainability.
So far, Pertamina NRE has been known for its portfolio in geothermal power plants, gas-to-power, and solar energy. However, the company also offers solutions to improve reliability and optimize power generation assets for the industrial sector. This step aims to help companies reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing operational performance.
“We provide comprehensive solutions, not only green or low-emission power plants. We also help existing assets work more efficiently, save energy, and remain environmentally friendly,” said Norman Ginting, Director of Projects and Operations at Pertamina NRE.
Pertamina NRE’s portfolio includes geothermal energy distribution through PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk in various regions of Indonesia, the Jawa Satu Power integrated power plant, and large-scale solar panel installations to support Pertamina Hulu Rokan operations. At the regional level, its shareholding in Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) in the Philippines strengthens Pertamina NRE’s expansion as a renewable energy player in Asia.
In addition to developing environmentally friendly projects, Pertamina NRE manages three main services to improve the reliability and efficiency of power plants.
First, Operation and Maintenance (O&M), covering daily plant management, preventive and predictive maintenance, and the use of advanced technologies such as thermal drone imagery, IoT sensors, artificial intelligence (AI/ML), and digitalized maintenance.
Second, asset reliability optimization, which includes the use of energy storage technology, smart grid controllers, and low-emission gas power plants to ensure power stability and operational efficiency.
Third, efficiency and reliability consulting – based on data and analytics, including reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), equipment criticality assessment, asset tagging, and energy audits to help industries design long-term sustainability strategies.
According to Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Pertamina NRE plays an important role in strengthening national energy resilience. “As a pioneer of new and renewable energy projects, Pertamina through Pertamina NRE is committed to building a sustainability ecosystem that drives economic growth and provides alternative energy for both communities and industries,” he said.
With a combination of technology, innovation, and expertise, Pertamina NRE strengthens its position as a strategic partner for industries in achieving low-emission targets. This commitment is in line with the government’s target of net zero emissions by 2060 and the application of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) principles across all Pertamina business lines.
