Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – The Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia held a commemoration of Nuzulul Quran along with a communal iftar gathering for the “Keluarga Rimbawan” in Jakarta. The event aimed to strengthen spiritual values and solidarity within the ministry during the holy month of Ramadan.
The gathering was attended by Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, Deputy Forestry Minister Rohmat Marzuki, and senior officials from the ministry. Also present was Indonesia’s 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, who delivered a religious sermon and led a joint prayer session as part of the event.
Carrying the theme “The Light of Nuzulul Quran Strengthening Green Spirituality in Reinforcing Sustainable Forest Governance,” the event brought together members of the Forestry Ministry and various stakeholders involved in sustainable forest management.
In his remarks, Minister Raja Juli Antoni emphasized that forestry responsibilities are not only ecological but also spiritual in nature.
He stated that the ministry’s work involves protecting the environment while also reflecting moral and spiritual responsibility. According to him, the ministry carries a constitutional mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to safeguard forests, which he described as both a professional duty and a spiritual obligation.
The minister also noted that the teachings of the Quran serve as guidance for forestry professionals to draw inspiration in protecting nature, maintaining biodiversity, and preventing environmentally destructive practices.
As part of the Ramadan social activities, the event included the distribution of copies of the Quran and basic food packages for employees’ families within the ministry.
Suhendra Wiriadinata, Director of APP Group, attended the event and announced the donation of 1,000 copies of the Quran for the Forestry Ministry’s extended family.
He said the Ramadan initiative was intended to strengthen social solidarity and expand public access to the Quran.
The Quran endowment program organized by APP Group is part of the company’s long-term commitment to supporting religious and social initiatives in Indonesia. Since 2008, together with business units under Sinar Mas, the program has distributed more than 1.4 million copies of the Quran across the country through partnerships with religious institutions, educational organizations, community groups, and units of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Indonesian National Police, including in remote regions.
The event concluded with a religious sermon, collective prayer, and a communal iftar attended by ministry officials, employees, and invited guests. (*)
