Minister Bahlil Assures Stable Energy Supply Amid Global Uncertainty

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Bahlil Lahadalia reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining energy supply for the public despite ongoing global energy pressures. Speaking in Jakarta on April 6, 2026, he stated that strategic measures have been implemented to ensure supply stability while keeping energy prices affordable, in line with directives from Prabowo Subianto.

He emphasized that government policies will continue to prioritize public welfare while strengthening national energy resilience. According to him, internal capacity within the Kementerian Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral must also be enhanced to ensure faster and more effective responses to global energy dynamics.

Bahlil stressed the importance of a results-oriented approach within the ministry, highlighting the need for a responsive team capable of solving complex energy challenges. He noted that while processes remain important, achieving tangible outcomes is the primary objective in addressing national energy issues.

He also underscored the importance of integrity in managing the energy sector, particularly amid global uncertainties. The government, he said, must take precise and responsive measures to ensure policies align with public needs.

In addition, Bahlil expressed appreciation to stakeholders across the energy sector for their cooperation and communication, which have enabled the government to اتخاذ appropriate steps in securing national energy supply.

To protect public purchasing power, the government has decided not to adjust subsidized fuel prices. Prices for Specific Fuel Types (JBT) and Special Assignment Fuel Types (JBKP) will remain unchanged. Discussions on non-subsidized fuel prices (JBU) are still ongoing with fuel trading business entities.

The government has also introduced energy efficiency measures by regulating fuel purchases. Subsidized Pertalite (JBKP) purchases are limited to a maximum of 50 liters per day per vehicle. Similar restrictions apply to subsidized diesel (JBT) for private vehicles, while no changes have been made for public transportation and logistics vehicles. (*)
