Enviro News Asia, Bogor – Thirty high-achieving young people from across Indonesia gathered for the Forest Youthverse Summit “Rumpin Forestival 2026” at the BP2SDM Regional Center III in Rumpin, Bogor Regency, West Java, on June 29–30, 2026. Organized by the Ministry of Forestry, the forum successfully channeled creative ideas, green technology innovations, and concrete commitments from young people in support of Indonesia’s forest conservation.
The event forms part of the Forest Youthverse program series, designed to strengthen the capacity of young people as forest conservationists through leadership development, innovation, collaboration, and real-world action in the forestry sector. The summit brought together youth, academics, forestry practitioners, government representatives, communities, and stakeholders to jointly formulate ideas and solutions to forest conservation challenges.
Participants, known as Forest Conservation Generation members (Genries), came from a range of institutions including Institut Pertanian Bogor, Institut Teknologi Sumatera, Universitas Lampung, Universitas Nusa Bangsa, forestry vocational schools, senior high schools, and youth organizations from various provinces.
Head of the Center for the Development of the Forest Conservation Generation Luckmi Purwandari said Forest Youthverse is a learning ecosystem designed to produce young people who not only care about the environment but are also capable of creating innovations and leading change in Indonesia’s forest conservation efforts.
“Forest conservation also needs young people with awareness, courage, creativity, and the willingness to act. That is why the greatest investment in forest conservation is not only in the areas being protected or the trees being planted, but also in the people being prepared to carry the conservation baton forward,” she said.
Activities opened with Youth Action for Nature, during which participants planted trees, tracked the Arboretum at BP2SDM Regional Center III Bogor, and made an educational visit to the Rumpin Modern Nursery for direct learning on forest management and land rehabilitation. This was followed by a Forest Reflection Circle, a Forest Connection session for building collaboration and networks, and a Forest Innovation Workshop where participants developed Innovation Boards for presentation.
On the second day, a Forest Youth Forum themed “Youth Voices for Forests and Biodiversity” provided a space for participants to share experiences, aspirations, and ideas in support of forest conservation. The Forest Innovation Pitching session, titled “From Ideas to Action,” saw participants present innovations covering forest conservation, environmental education, community empowerment, green technology, and environmental action before forestry experts and practitioners.
The pitching session was reinforced through Expert Reflection featuring speakers from the Citarum Ciliwung Watershed Management Agency and community empowerment practitioners, followed by a Forest Ideas Café, an interactive forum discussing strategic forestry issues in small groups. The full series of activities closed with the reading of the Forest Youth Commitment, a collective declaration by young participants to continue driving forest conservation in Indonesia.
Head of BP2SDM Regional Center III Bogor Yanti Noviyanti said Forest Youthverse is an important momentum for connecting young people with best practices in forest management through direct learning experiences.
“BP2SDM Regional Center III Bogor is not only a venue for this activity, but also a learning space for young people to get closer to forests. We hope that through Forest Youthverse, participants gain real experience, build networks, and have the courage to bring positive actions to their own regions. Because forest conservation needs collaboration, and young people are a vital part of that collaboration,” Yanti said.
Through the 2026 Forest Youthverse Summit at BP2SDM Regional Center III Rumpin Bogor, Pusgenri hopes to see more young people developing leadership, expanding collaboration, and producing innovations that make a real impact on forest and environmental conservation, as part of the Ministry of Forestry’s efforts to build an adaptive, creative, and sustainable forest conservation generation ecosystem for Indonesia’s forestry future.
