Bachelor Agro: Accredited Institutions for the 2026 Academic Year Announced

Enviro News Asia, Paris — During the Salon international de l’Agriculture, the Ministère de l’Agriculture, de l’Agroalimentaire et de la Souveraineté alimentaire announced the list of agricultural education institutions accredited to deliver the new Bachelor Agro degree starting in the 2026 academic year.

Established under the Law on Food Sovereignty and the Renewal of Generations in Agriculture (LOSARGA), promulgated in March 2025, the Bachelor Agro is a new national three-year degree (Bachelor’s level) conferring the grade of licence. It represents a significant milestone for agricultural education by strengthening academic pathways toward farm establishment, advisory services, and careers in agriculture and agri-food sectors.

A Strategic Qualification for Agricultural Education

The first programmes will open in September 2026 for students holding a two-year higher education qualification (Bac +2). Beginning in 2027, the degree will also be accessible to post-secondary students through Parcoursup.

The Bachelor Agro is designed to become a national benchmark in agricultural training, bridging the gap between the agricultural BTS (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur) and agronomy engineering schools, while responding to sectoral workforce needs.

Six Specialisations to Launch in 2026

Six initial specialisations (out of ten planned in total) will be offered from the 2026 academic year:

  • Sustainable Food and Agri-food Systems
  • Livestock and Transitions
  • Entrepreneurship, Advisory and Agricultural Management
  • Agronomic Engineering and Transitions
  • Agronomy Sciences and Techniques for Education
  • Robotic and Digital Systems for Agriculture

Three additional specialisations will be introduced in 2027, followed by a final one in 2028.

54 Institutions Accredited Nationwide

The accreditation campaign conducted at the end of 2025 generated strong engagement from agricultural education institutions. Applicant institutions were required to form consortia comprising at least one technical agricultural institution delivering a BTS qualification and one higher education institution (public or private non-profit under contract with the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Espace).

Of the 32 applications submitted, 25 were approved, resulting in the accreditation of:

  • 44 technical agricultural institutions
  • 10 higher education institutions

These institutions are distributed across metropolitan France as well as in Martinique.

Institutions not selected during this initial accreditation round will have the opportunity to reapply in the next session. (*)
