Enviro News Asia, Klaten – The Central Java Environmental Control Center (Pusdal LH Jawa) is actively supporting the Klaten Regency Government’s efforts to meet the national waste management targets for 2025.
This collaboration aims to achieve a 51.2% reduction in waste by the set deadline. The head of Pusdal LH Jawa, Eduward Hutapea, and the Head of Region II, Ari Yuwono, recently met with Klaten officials to strengthen this partnership.
On Tuesday, June 26, Pusdal LH Jawa representatives conducted an official audience with the Klaten Regency Government at the Troketon Final Disposal Site (TPA).
Bupati (Regent) of Klaten, Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, accompanied by Vice Regent Benny Indra Ardhianto, welcomed the visit. During the meeting, Ismoyo detailed the local government’s proactive steps to improve waste management, including the completion of a Leachate Treatment Plant (IPL) this year.
He also highlighted the crucial role of villages in waste management through the development of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) waste processing sites.
Eduward Hutapea praised Klaten’s initiatives, noting that the Troketon TPA operates as a controlled landfill. He emphasized that a primary challenge remains the comprehensive management of waste at its source to minimize the residue entering the TPA. “We must focus on upstream solutions,” he stated.
Following the formal meeting, the Pusdal LH Jawa team also visited the KSM Jati Pesona 3R waste processing site in Janti Village. This site serves as a successful model for innovative and sustainable community-based waste management. (*)
