Enviro News Asia, Beijing — China reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with all nations in advancing a global green and low-carbon transformation ahead of the upcoming COP30 UNFCCC in Brazil. The Chinese government announced that Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will attend the summit on November 6, representing President Xi Jinping as his special envoy.
At a regular press briefing on Friday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China is prepared to work closely with all parties to accelerate the global transition toward sustainable energy systems. He expressed optimism that the summit in Belém will become a milestone for international climate cooperation and mark a new era in the world’s collective climate response.
“This year is particularly significant—it marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, a decade of progress and challenges in global climate action,” Guo stated. “It is also the year when nations are expected to submit their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), signaling a crucial turning point for global climate governance.”
Guo highlighted that China’s newly submitted NDCs reflect its commitment to global climate leadership and its efforts to promote sustainable growth. “As a responsible major country, China remains steadfast in implementing its commitments and deepening cooperation with developing nations through technology exchange, capacity building, and renewable energy investment,” he added.
The spokesperson emphasized that China aims to uphold the principles of multilateralism and strengthen solidarity in tackling climate change. “We hope to work hand in hand with all countries to enable the global green and low-carbon transition and build a clean, beautiful world for future generations,” Guo said.
The COP30, hosted by Brazil, is expected to bring together world leaders, environmental ministers, and experts to evaluate progress since the Paris Agreement and mobilize climate financing for developing economies. China’s participation is anticipated to play a central role in shaping strategies for equitable and inclusive climate action, particularly in advancing green technology and sustainable infrastructure across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
