Indonesia Promotes Concrete Global Forest Management Action at FCLP Meeting in Nairobi

Enviro News Asia, Nairobi — Indonesia participated in the **Forest & Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP) All-Member Meeting held from 3–5 March 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting brought together representatives from 34 of the 38 FCLP member countries, while Indonesia and Brazil attended as observers to share perspectives from Global South countries.

The Indonesian delegation was represented by Haruni Krisnawati, Vice Advisor to the Minister of Forestry for Climate Change, and Ristianto Pribadi, Head of the Bureau of Public Relations and Foreign Cooperation at the Ministry of Forestry.

Haruni Krisnawati stated that the FCLP forum serves as a strategic platform to strengthen international collaboration in addressing climate change through sustainable forest management.

“With only a few years remaining toward the 2030 target, countries need to accelerate the implementation of concrete actions in the forestry sector. Indonesia has valuable experience in managing tropical forests, including through the FOLU Net Sink 2030 approach, which can contribute to global cooperation,” Haruni said.

Ristianto Pribadi added that Indonesia’s participation in the meeting also provided an opportunity to share best practices in sustainable forest governance.

“Indonesia continues to strengthen sustainable forest management through several strategic policies, including the Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK), the social forestry program, land rehabilitation initiatives, and stronger forest and land fire prevention measures. These experiences are important to share in global forums such as the FCLP,” he explained.

During the discussions, Indonesia also highlighted the potential development of sustainable wood-based green construction and emphasized the importance of harmonizing standards, strengthening capacity building, and promoting technology transfer among countries to support a low-carbon forestry-based economy.

Through its participation in the meeting, Indonesia aims to reinforce its forestry diplomacy at the global level while opening opportunities for international cooperation and financing to support the FOLU Net Sink 2030 agenda and sustainable forest management. (*)
