Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to strengthen strategic collaboration between domestic and international industry players to accelerate the transition toward a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable energy system. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to achieving national energy independence and enhancing the global competitiveness of Indonesia’s green industries.
“The industrial transformation toward clean energy is inevitable. The government is opening investment opportunities that foster innovation, efficiency, and support for carbon emission reduction targets,” said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in his official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (October 14, 2025).
The statement followed a bilateral meeting between Minister Agus and Jiangxi Jovo Energy Co. Ltd, an energy company from China, held in Shanghai on Friday (October 10).
The Minister emphasized that the development of energy infrastructure—from natural gas to renewable energy sources—is a crucial component of a globally competitive industrial ecosystem. Collaboration with Jovo Energy, which has extensive experience in managing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and clean energy development, is seen as a significant opportunity to strengthen Indonesia’s national energy system.
“The potential for LNG distribution in Indonesia is immense. The government is expanding the use of LNG for both domestic consumption and export. LNG offers flexibility as it is not dependent on pipeline networks and can be distributed to remote regions via ships or other efficient transport modes,” explained Minister Agus.
Furthermore, the government is opening broader collaboration opportunities for global energy industries to participate in renewable energy projects in Indonesia. “We welcome companies like Jovo Energy that have expertise in clean technologies, ranging from solar power generation to gas recycling initiatives,” he added.
The Minister also highlighted that investment opportunities are wide open in the Dimethyl Ether (DME) sector, which plays a strategic role in reducing Indonesia’s dependence on imported Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Domestic demand for DME is projected to reach 11 million tons per year, offering vast potential for investors capable of delivering efficient and sustainable technologies.
“Investment in the DME sector not only strengthens national energy resilience but also enables technology transfer and enhances domestic industrial capabilities,” said Agus. He added that Jovo Energy could play an important role by bringing the gasification technology needed to produce DME competitively in Indonesia.
Kemenperin stressed that investment collaborations focusing on energy efficiency and emission reduction will be a key foundation for the future of Indonesia’s industrial sector. With strong government policy support, improved energy infrastructure, and a large domestic market potential, Indonesia is ready to become a leading partner for global investors in developing a resilient and sustainable energy supply chain.
“Through synergistic collaboration, we can realize an industrial sector that is not only productive and competitive but also environmentally friendly and aligned with the vision of a green energy future,” concluded the Minister. (*)
