Pertamina Strengthens Energy Efficiency Culture from Workplace to Community Programs

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta– PT Pertamina (Persero) is reinforcing its commitment to energy conservation by embedding efficiency practices across its workplace operations and extending initiatives to the broader community.

Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that internal energy-saving measures are part of the company’s broader commitment to supporting national energy sustainability.

He emphasized that collective efforts to conserve energy are increasingly necessary amid global geopolitical dynamics affecting energy supply chains, in line with directives from Prabowo Subianto and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Within its operations, Pertamina encourages employees to use public transportation by providing shuttle bus services connecting offices to transit hubs such as train stations and bus stops. This initiative has been implemented not only in Jakarta but also across regional offices to facilitate access to mass transportation.

Employees are also encouraged to share office vehicles for work-related travel to reduce individual car usage. Additionally, the company promotes a healthy lifestyle through its “Sehat Bugar dan Senang” (SEBUSE) program, which includes walking and cycling to work as part of daily routines.

Energy-saving practices are also applied within office environments, including encouraging employees to switch off lights and electrical equipment when not in use, as well as utilizing building designs that maximize natural lighting to reduce electricity consumption.

At the operational level, Pertamina has begun integrating renewable energy by installing solar panels at fuel stations and office facilities.

Beyond internal efforts, Pertamina extends its energy efficiency campaign to the public through programs such as “Mudik Bersama” and “Balik Bersama,” which promote the use of public transportation during the Eid travel season.

The company also continues to develop energy transition initiatives through its Desa Energi Berdikari program, which has reached 252 locations, enabling communities to independently utilize renewable energy. In addition, Pertamina is expanding household gas network infrastructure to provide cleaner and more efficient energy alternatives.

Baron noted that fostering energy-saving habits within employees and their families is expected to build broader public awareness and contribute to national energy resilience.

As a leading company in energy transition, Pertamina remains committed to supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission 2060 target and advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across its operations. (*)
