President Prabowo Summons Ministers to Hambalang, Discusses Palm Oil Issues

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto convened a limited meeting with several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Friday afternoon (January 31, 2025). The meeting discussed strategic steps in land management, particularly related to palm oil plantations.

The ministers present included Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol, and Minister of Agrarian Affairs/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid. Also in attendance were Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, and Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni. The ministers present are part of the Forest Area Regulation Task Force established under Presidential Regulation No. 5 of 2025 concerning Forest Area Regulation. In the meeting, several policies were decided upon for immediate implementation to ensure land management in accordance with applicable regulations.

One of the main decisions in this meeting was the enforcement measures to be carried out by the Task Force for Land Use and Investment Regulation.

The Task Force will act in accordance with established regulations, ensuring compliance with land use regulations.

Furthermore, the government will also adjust policies regarding lands already utilized for palm oil plantations. This adjustment will be conducted while adhering to current regulations to create a balance between environmental interests, economic growth, and community welfare.

The decisions agreed upon in this meeting will be followed up and directly supervised by President Prabowo. Additionally, Task Force members will carry out their duties according to the established directives, ensuring that all processes align with good governance principles.

The government is also committed to maintaining a balance between investment and environmental sustainability in land management. The measures taken are expected to provide legal certainty for stakeholders and promote more orderly and nationally oriented plantation governance.
