PT Inhutani I Berau Region Conducts Joint Fire Preparedness Assembly to Strengthen Readiness Against Forest and Land Fires

Enviro News Asia, Berau – PT Inhutani I Unit Management of Natural Forest (UMHA) Sambarata, Meraang, and Tepian Buah held a Joint Fire Preparedness Assembly to enhance alertness during the dry season and the risk of forest and land fires on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The event took place at the Sports Area of PT Inhutani I in Tanjung Redeb District, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan.

The assembly, led by SEVP of Operations Amas Wijaya, involved all employees of PT Inhutani I and was attended by several relevant agencies including BPHL Region XIII Samarinda, KPHP Berau Barat, KPHP Berau Tengah, KPHP Berau Utara, Tanjung Redeb Police Sector, Berau Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Manggala Agni, and representatives from PT Hutan Sanggam Berau, PT Berau Coal, PT Hamparan Anugrah Abadi, as well as partners of PT Inhutani I.

Amas Wijaya emphasized that the event served as an initial mitigation step and a clear indication of PT Inhutani I’s preparedness to face forest and land fire threats. He noted the importance of support and cooperation from related institutions and the community for effective fire prevention.

The assembly began with a formal roll call followed by inspections and demonstrations of firefighting equipment conducted by PT Inhutani I employees and KPHP Berau Utara personnel. Najib, Head of UPTD KPHP Berau Utara, expressed strong support for this initiative, emphasizing the need for collaborative fire prevention efforts among all stakeholders and affirming his institution’s readiness to assist in managing fire control in PT Inhutani I’s operational areas.

This Joint Preparedness Assembly aims to remind all parties that controlling forest and land fires requires shared awareness and responsibility, which can significantly reduce environmental, social, and economic impacts, particularly in preserving forest sustainability. (*)
