Enviro News Asia, Belém — On World Cities Day, COP30 Special Envoy for Urban Solutions, Philip Yang, launched a central repository a “One-Stop-Shop” compiling key milestones and decisions that shape multilevel and urban climate action under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
This initiative aims to strengthen transparency, accessibility, and coordinated action among cities, regions, and stakeholders in implementing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.
The repository consolidates information previously scattered across various negotiation tracks and UNFCCC documents, addressing fragmentation and supporting more coherent policy development. Through the Mutirão spirit of collaboration, it seeks to:
- Enhance transparency by offering a unified narrative of urban climate progress.
- Improve accessibility for city networks, policymakers, and negotiators.
- Enable action by helping national governments design effective multilevel strategies aligned with sustainable urbanization.
As a living document, the repository will be continually updated and serves as a preparatory tool for Cities Day at COP30 in Belém on November 11.
The COP30 Presidency encourages all Parties and stakeholders to utilize this platform to promote integrated, long-term approaches to urban climate resilience — one of the defining legacies of COP30.
This effort was developed in collaboration with the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) Constituency and other partners, recognizing their key role in advancing the UNFCCC’s urban agenda. (*)
