Environews – Jakarta, December 17, 2024 – APP Group supports the Export Release of Forest-Based Processed Products certified under SVLK+ held by the Ministry of Forestry. The event took place in-person at Manggala Wanabakti with virtual participation from participating companies. This initiative by the government aims to ensure that Indonesia’s forestry products meet global sustainability standards, enhance competitiveness in international markets, and promote legal and transparent forest management through the Timber Legality and Verification System (Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu/ SVLK+).
In a speech delivered by the Director General of Sustainable Forest Management, Dida Migfar Ridha, the Minister of Forestry stated, “With the launch of SVLK+, we ensure that every exported forest-based product has traceable and verifiable raw material origins. The spatial-based technology in this system improves transparency, guarantees product legality, and ensures sustainable forest management free from deforestation.”
Dida further noted that, as of today, the export value of forestry industry products in 2024 has reached USD 11.896 billion and is projected to surpass the previous year’s achievement. This demonstrates the significant contribution of the forestry sector in supporting the national economy amid increasingly competitive global markets.
During the virtual export release ceremony, PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk Tangerang Mill (IKPP Tangerang), a business unit of APP Group, symbolically exported 15.68 metric tons of Colour Photocopy Paper. The product has successfully met international sustainability standards through SVLK+ certification.
“We fully support the Government’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s forestry product exports. APP Group’s participation in this event reflects our commitment to transparency, environmental responsibility, and integrated sustainability across our supply chain,” said Suhendra Wiriadinata, Managing Director of APP Group.
As part of its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability, APP Group has developed the Product Tracing application, designed by the company’s internal Sustainability and IT teams. This application allows customers to trace products in detail using a Delivery Note (DN) number, which includes information such as the production date, production line, pulp and wood origins, and geographic coordinates of the raw material sources. This ensures that raw materials come from industrial plantation forests and not from deforestation.
The development of this application is also supported by Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, which differentiates industrial forests from natural forests while aiding in the planning and monitoring of sustainable raw material sourcing.
This system complies with SVLK+ regulations based on Circular Letter No. 4 of 2024 issued by the Directorate General of Sustainable Forest Management, which governs the enhancement of traceability information for forestry product raw materials. The system has already been utilized by APP Group’s customers in Europe and Asia, further strengthening trust in APP Group’s products in the global market.
APP Group continues to support the Government in promoting sustainable forestry products that can compete globally, while encouraging transparency through the export release of SVLK+ certified products. With SVLK+ certification, APP Group ensures that all exported products, including those from PT IKPP Tangerang, are sourced legally and managed sustainably.
“We believe that sustainability is an integral part of our business strategy. This initiative not only strengthens Indonesia’s position in the international market but also delivers positive impacts for the environment and society,” concluded Suhendra.
