Enviro News Asia, Ankara – Türkiye has successfully brought all 314 wildfires reported since July 29 under control following intensive aerial and ground firefighting operations, Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı announced on August 2, 2026.
The nationwide firefighting campaign was carried out across multiple provinces, including Aydın, Balıkesir, and İzmir, where the latest wildfires in Çine, Susurluk, and Buca districts were fully contained after coordinated emergency response efforts.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, firefighters responded to a total of 314 fires, including 192 incidents that occurred outside forested areas. The operations involved aerial firefighting aircraft, ground crews, and forest firefighters working continuously to prevent the spread of the blazes.
Minister Yumaklı attributed the successful containment to the relentless efforts of firefighting teams operating by air and land despite challenging weather conditions, including strong winds that increased fire risks across the country.
Although all reported fires have been extinguished, the minister warned that wildfire risk remains high. Emergency teams will remain on 24-hour standby, while the public has been urged to avoid activities that could ignite fires, refrain from lighting outdoor fires, and immediately report any signs of smoke or flames to the national emergency hotline.
The ministry emphasized that protecting Türkiye’s forests requires continued public vigilance, stressing that safeguarding the country’s “Green Homeland” is a shared responsibility. (*)
