Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu (UMB) has been granted a permit to manage a Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) covering 1,992.69 hectares, located in Central Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province. The permit was issued by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni through Decree No. 1178 of 2025 on the Management and Utilization of the KHDTK for Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu, located in the Bukit Daun Protected Forest Area, Register 5, in Central Bengkulu Regency.
The decree was personally handed over by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni to the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu, Dr. Susiyanto, M.Si, at the Manggala Wanabakti Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (April 15, 2025). Also present at the handover ceremony were the KHDTK UMB Management Team, accompanied by the Head and Secretary of the Bengkulu Provincial Environmental and Forestry Office.
Rector Dr. Susiyanto expressed his gratitude to the Minister and his team for entrusting UMB with the management of the KHDTK. “UMB is committed to carrying out this mandate with integrity in terms of conservation, sustainability, and beneficial management. Moving forward, UMB is ready to collaborate with various stakeholders in the development and management of the KHDTK,” said Susiyanto.
In his address, the Minister of Forestry gave special attention to the management of KHDTK. He emphasized that in accordance with its purpose, the KHDTK should serve as a center for forestry research and development, forestry education and training, as well as religious and cultural activities—while adhering to applicable regulations. Furthermore, the Minister hopes that in the future, the forest area will bring benefits to both the managing institution and the surrounding communities through methods and procedures in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
