UPNVJ Launches Two New Study Programs: Business Law and Biology

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has officially opened two new study programs for the 2025/2026 academic year through the university’s Independent Selection Path (SEMA UPNVJ). These new programs are Business Law and Biology.

Business Law Study Program

The Faculty of Law at UPNVJ aims to produce internationally minded graduates through this program, with a focus on developing Intellectual Property (IP) consultants, corporate legal staff, law enforcement personnel, and legal researchers.

This program emphasizes the integration of sustainable development legal concepts with the values of national defense (Bela Negara) within its curriculum.

According to Rianda Dirkareshza, S.H., M.H., Head of the Business Law Program, students will not only study fundamental principles of business law, but also how law can be a strategic tool to promote business ethics, social responsibility, and patriotism within both government and industrial sectors.

Students will take a range of specialized courses unique to this program, including Sustainable Development Law, Intellectual Property Management, Halal Industry Licensing Law, Mining Law, Green Economy, and Blue Economy.

“We have prepared six lecturers who are experts in fields such as International Law, Consumer Protection Law, Land Rights Law, Intellectual Property Law, Sharia Business Law, and Environmental Business Law,” Rianda added.

Biology Study Program

Desi Purwaningsih, S.Pd., M.Si., Head of the Biology Program, stated that the program is designed to be an excellent, innovative, and collaborative academic track with a strong national identity. It focuses on molecular biology studies to support preventive medicine.

“This program aims to shape a new generation of experts in genomics, nutrition, entrepreneurship, health sciences, laboratory work, education, and scientific research,” Desi said.

The Biology program prioritizes practitioner lecturers and specialists in biology to support student learning in advanced scientific and technological disciplines, especially in nutrigenomics and molecular biology.

“There are 10 expert lecturers in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and biomedical science, along with four faculty members specializing in neurology and one in nutrition science,” she explained.

Desi added that the Biology program offers several distinct and highlighted courses such as Neuroscience, Nutritional Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Embryology, Immunology, Biomedical Science, Toxicology, and Protein & Enzymology.

“These courses are designed to strengthen student understanding in molecular biology, including neurobiology, nutrigenomics, and molecular genetics. Furthermore, we emphasize entrepreneurial knowledge to foster future biopreneurs,” Desi concluded. (*)
