Enviro News Asia, Bojonegoro – The East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA Jatim), through the KSDA Region II Bojonegoro Section (SKW II Bojonegoro), released two long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The two primates, one male and one female, were voluntarily handed over by the public through the Bojonegoro Fire Department.
This release is part of an effort to restore ecosystem balance and protect wildlife. Before being released, the BBKSDA Jatim medical team conducted intensive observations to ensure the animals’ health and behavior. In a press statement, the Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation of the Ministry of Forestry stated that during their care period, both monkeys exhibited good vital signs: they were active, eating, drinking, and capable of surviving naturally.
The Protected Forest (HL) in plot 6, Mulyoagung Forest Management Resort (RPH), Mulyoagung Forest Management Unit (BKPH), was chosen as the release site. This area was deemed ideal due to its adequate water sources and sufficient natural food reserves to support the survival of the animals.
This release is not only part of a conservation commitment but also serves to encourage the public to be more aware of the importance of preserving wildlife in their natural habitat. The success of this initiative serves as a reminder that collaboration between the community, government, and conservation institutions is key to maintaining ecological balance.
