Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – Ministry of Environment of Indonesia through the Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) organized the “Ruang Cerita Ramadhan: Lebih Dekat Bersama Menteri Lingkungan Hidup” forum to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders in addressing environmental challenges, particularly waste management and circular economy development.
The event took place at the At-Tin Mosque in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, bringing together government officials, regional representatives, landfill and waste processing facility managers, waste management communities, and informal waste workers from various regions.
The forum served as an open dialogue platform between the government and community stakeholders to reinforce cooperation in tackling waste management challenges across Indonesia.
Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Control Agency Hanif Faisol Nurofiq emphasized the vital role of communities, particularly informal workers involved in waste collection and sorting.
He noted that waste has become a serious challenge in many cities and districts across Indonesia, making the contribution of community actors in waste management essential to support government efforts.
Hanif also highlighted the importance of waste segregation at the source as a key factor for effective and sustainable waste management systems.
In addition to the dialogue session, the event included the distribution of social assistance to communities affected by a landslide in the Bantar Gebang area. The program concluded with a religious sermon and a communal iftar, reinforcing solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
During the event, APP Group contributed by donating 400 copies of the Quran and 2,000 notebooks for participants as part of its support for community social and educational initiatives.
The donation was symbolically handed over by APP Group Director Soewarso to Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
Also attending the event, Suhendra Wiriadinata, Director of APP Group, said the gathering served as a positive platform to strengthen collaboration between the government, private sector, and communities.
He added that APP Group’s participation aligns with the company’s ongoing commitment to social initiatives, including its Quran waqf program, which has distributed more than 1.4 million copies of the Quran across Indonesia since 2008 in collaboration with other pillars of the Sinar Mas group.
Through the “Ruang Cerita Ramadhan” initiative, the Ministry hopes to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders while promoting community-based waste management and sustainable environmental practices. (*)
