Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – As the frontline of national environmental management, KLH/BPLH is ensuring this cooperation does not remain on paper. A series of concrete actions will be immediately executed by both countries. The scope of collaboration covers vital issues ranging from accelerating the circular economy, modern waste management, and water and air quality maintenance, to transboundary pollution control. KLH/BPLH will also focus on developing human resource capacity to better navigate the emerging low-carbon economy era.
To realize this vision, Indonesia and Singapore will regularly hold technical personnel exchanges, launch joint research, and develop environmentally friendly and sustainability pilot projects. Technology transfer between the two countries will also be facilitated to accelerate environmental management innovation.
A Roadmap Toward Sustainable Development
The strategic steps taken by Indonesia together with Singapore form part of a concrete commitment to supporting the Paris Agreement and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For Indonesia, this initiative led by KLH/BPLH is highly significant and aligned with the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), with environmental resilience and sustainable natural resource management now serving as inseparable pillars of national economic development.
As a follow-up, both governments have agreed to regularize ministerial-level policy dialogue and establish a dedicated working group of senior officials to monitor program implementation, evaluate achievements, and identify new collaboration opportunities.
With two Southeast Asian powers united in this effort, the public can now look with confidence toward a regional future that is far more resilient, cleaner, and ecologically sustainable. (*)
