Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Civil servants from Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry who joined the first 2026 Reserve Component (Komponen Cadangan/Komcad) program have successfully completed their Basic Reserve Component Training, reinforcing the ministry’s commitment to strengthening human resource capacity while supporting the country’s Total People’s Defense and Security System (Sishankamrata).
The completion of the training was marked by a welcoming ceremony for participants returning from the program. During the event, Forestry Ministry Secretary-General Mahfudz M.P. expressed appreciation for the dedication and commitment demonstrated by the participants throughout the training process.
In remarks delivered on his behalf by Head of the Ministry’s Bureau of Human Resources and Organization, Dedy Asriady, Mahfudz emphasized that participation in the Reserve Component reflects the integration of forestry development objectives with national defense efforts.
He noted that civil servants not only carry responsibilities related to public service and government administration but also have an important role in contributing to national resilience and security.
According to the ministry, future forestry management challenges are becoming increasingly complex. Threats such as illegal logging, forest encroachment, forest and land fires, wildlife poaching, and other forestry-related crimes require greater preparedness, discipline, and adaptive human resource capabilities.
Within this context, the Reserve Component serves as a strategic supporting element of Indonesia’s defense system that can contribute to safeguarding forest ecosystems and natural resources.
Mahfudz highlighted three key values expected to be strengthened through the training program. First is an enhanced awareness of national defense, recognizing that protecting forests is not merely a sectoral responsibility but also part of safeguarding national sovereignty and resilience. Second is the reinforcement of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in carrying out forestry duties. Third is improved vigilance and risk mitigation capacity in responding to threats against forest areas and natural resources.
The ministry believes that the leadership skills, discipline, patriotism, and readiness developed during the training will provide valuable support for participants in their daily responsibilities, particularly in forest management, monitoring, and protection activities.
Officials expressed hope that the experience gained through the program will help participants become more responsive, adaptive, and effective in addressing challenges in the field while supporting sustainable forest governance.
The Secretary-General also congratulated all participants for successfully completing the First Batch of the 2026 Basic Reserve Component Training and encouraged them to serve as role models in promoting discipline, public service, and national defense values within the Ministry of Forestry. (*)
