Perhutani and KPMM Plant Mangroves in Pamekasan to Mark Environmental Commemorations

Enviro News Asia, Madura — Perum Perhutani, through its Madura Forest Management Unit (KPH), collaborated with Kelompok Peduli Mangrove Madura and other stakeholders to plant 250 mangrove seedlings along the coastal area of Branta Tinggi Village, Tlanakan District, Pamekasan Regency. The activity was held on 3 May 2026 to commemorate World Water Day, Earth Day, and Biodiversity Day.

Administratur of Perhutani KPH Madura Bima Andrayuwana expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting the vital role of mangroves in protecting coastal ecosystems. He noted that mangroves help prevent coastal erosion, improve soil and seawater quality, serve as habitats for fisheries, and provide broader economic benefits, including livestock feed resources.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. According to him, collective efforts such as mangrove planting not only improve environmental conditions but also raise public awareness about the importance of conservation.

Meanwhile, KPMM Chairperson Endang Tri Wahyurini expressed appreciation for the continued partnership with Perhutani and other stakeholders. She stated that the initiative, themed “Embrace the Coast: Plant Mangroves, Give Life to the Earth,” aims to promote long-term environmental sustainability and strengthen community engagement in conservation efforts.

The joint planting activity reflects a shared commitment to preserving mangrove ecosystems and enhancing coastal resilience, while encouraging communities to take an active role in protecting the environment for future generations. (*)
