Enviro News Asia, Nanning – Roads leading to Zhenlong township in Hengzhou city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, were reopened to traffic at 3 p.m. on Saturday, enabling rescue vehicles to enter the flood-stricken area after a week of isolation, local authorities confirmed.
Multiple rescue teams stepped up emergency operations following the reopening, accelerating the evacuation of affected residents and the delivery of relief supplies.
Severe flooding hit Zhenlong township the previous Saturday amid persistent heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Maysak, cutting off the township’s external communication and transportation links and leaving the area temporarily isolated from the outside world. (*)
