Enviro News Asia, Jakarta – APP Group’s commitment to fostering a sustainable industry has been recognized at the Endress+Hauser Sustainability Recognition Forum 2025, themed “Empowering Industry, Advancing Sustainability”, held at The St. Regis Hotel Jakarta.

At this event, two business units of APP Group—PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk and PT OKI Pulp & Paper Mills—were acknowledged for their innovations and implementation of sustainability programs that contribute positively to both the environment and society.

PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk received recognition for its program “Digital Waste Bank – Digital Waste for a Greener Tomorrow”, which successfully integrated digitalization into community waste management at its Serang mill.

According to the press release, the program has managed around 120 tons of waste annually, involving over 4,700 active members, generating tangible benefits such as increased income for local communities while also supplying environmentally friendly paper raw materials for the industry.

Meanwhile, PT OKI Pulp & Paper Mills was recognized for its success in implementing renewable energy.

The company uses approximately 99% renewable energy in its operations, utilizing biomass sources such as black liquor, bark, and biogas processed through advanced, environmentally friendly, and sustainable technologies. The award was received by APP Group’s Senior Sustainability Expert, Sera Noviany.

“This award is a true testament to the commitment and hard work of the entire APP Group team in consistently applying sustainability principles.

Through the Digital Waste Bank program and intensive adoption of renewable energy at OKI Mill, we aim to show that the pulp and paper industry can actively contribute to environmental balance while improving community welfare,” said Elim Sritaba, Chief Sustainability Officer of APP Group, in a separate statement.

“We believe that innovative collaboration with communities and the use of renewable technologies are strong foundations for realizing a truly circular economy.

APP Group remains committed to continuing its efforts to achieve our sustainability targets in line with the Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2030,” Elim added.

The Endress+Hauser Sustainability Recognition Forum 2025 also brought together industry leaders, academics, and regulators to discuss innovative strategies for enhancing energy efficiency and sustainable practices across various industrial sectors.

Through this event, best practices in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects were acknowledged as a concrete form of support for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia.
