Village Electrification Development Becomes Indonesia’s Priority in 2026

Enviro News Asia, Jakarta — Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has approved the final budget ceiling proposal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) amounting to IDR 21.67 trillion for Fiscal Year 2026. In addition to routine expenditures, the budget will be prioritized for increasing the electrification ratio through the Village Electrification (Lisdes) program, which is a priority of President Prabowo Subianto.

The final budget ceiling of IDR 21.67 trillion marks a significant increase compared to the initial ceiling of IDR 8.12 trillion.

“The Initial Budget Ceiling of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for Fiscal Year 2026 was IDR 8.12 trillion,” said Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot during a Working Meeting with Commission XII on the agenda of Determining the Work Plan and Budget (RKA-K/L) for FY 2026 in Jakarta, Wednesday (Sept 3), as conveyed in the official release of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

According to Yuliot, the increase to IDR 21.67 trillion will be utilized to continue various priority programs, such as the development of city gas networks (jargas), oil and gas as well as coal exploration, and programs to boost the electrification ratio through the Village Electrification (Lisdes) program.

“An additional IDR 5 trillion will be allocated for electricity infrastructure in 1,135 locations,” Yuliot revealed.

In addition to these programs, the Ministry’s 2026 infrastructure spending is also planned for community needs, such as providing converter kits for fishermen, developing gas networks, and supporting new electricity connections for underprivileged households.

Part of the additional budget will also be allocated for self-managed activities, including oil and gas study assessments in 10 open areas, preparation and promotion of oil and gas working area tenders, as well as mineral and coal exploration activities with target recommendations of 9 and 10 locations, respectively.
