Enviro News Asia, Central Java — The Government of Indonesia has confirmed that national energy supplies remain stable during the return travel period of Eid al-Fitr 2026/1447 H. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, delivered this assurance following on-site inspections at several fuel stations in Central Java.
During visits to fuel stations in Sragen and Karanganyar on 26 March 2026, the Minister verified the availability of fuel (both diesel and gasoline), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. He emphasized that coordination among the government, the Energy and Mineral Resources task force, and the public has been effective since ten days prior to Eid and throughout the return travel period.
The Government also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining energy stability amid global uncertainties, including disruptions to fuel supply chains linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. In line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto, efforts are ongoing to diversify oil supply sources and optimize domestic energy production to reduce reliance on imports.
Minister Bahlil noted that Indonesia has significantly reduced its dependence on imported diesel, while approximately 50 percent of gasoline demand is still met through imports. Nevertheless, the Government continues to pursue strategic measures to strengthen national energy resilience and ensure supply security.
He further called on the public to use energy responsibly, particularly in the consumption of fuel and LPG, stressing that national energy stability requires not only government action but also active participation from society. (*)
